A TRUE ARTIST KNOWS NO BOUNDARIES

Welcome to that corner of the room where if you are a shy and modest artist you can be among others like you.

Welcome to my corner!

All of us, from the time of birth jump on this roller coaster ride called "Life". The majority of us remain on this ride until the end, however, some don't. As we leave the gate and slowly proceed, we are conditioned and prepared for what's to come. Little boys and girls taught to be cautious from the time they are old enough to wear diapers are programed for the first leg of this ride. While continuing up this steep incline, innocence is lost. Now comes school and separation from home which brings on a whole new independence. It is during this time that the ride becomes bumpy. The restraints on this ride become too loose or too tight forcing the passenger on this ride to adjust their physical and emotional characteristics. The first peak reveals itself and we cruise swiftly down into puberty leaving childhood behind. As the wind blows through our hair so does insecurity and an overwhelming need to be accepted. Around the first curve comes temptation and most close their eyes to the fright that will one day define who they are. Some will face the danger with their heads up and eyes open. All will scream for the world to hear who they are. Suddenly there is an unexpected drop and mixed emotions interact with responsibility as the air of adulthood hits your face. During this leg of the ride, many check out. Some fall asleep, some retreat, and some give into defeat. All of us experience this ride but it is how we ride that matters. I sit in my corner and experience this ride with the passion of a survivor through the ups and downs. Riding my coaster until it stops never looking back but looking forward to the power that propels me. Entertainment allows me to escape from the roller coaster through dreams and words played or sang in a musical note, but always through the art of the artist within me. Find the artist in you and take a little time to sit in the corner....TJAZZT

  1. I enjoy reading your free prose here. I found that some your images felt contradictory but also affirmative at the same time. I like the idea of the corner, and a place where we can cloister herself off for a moment and get ready to go back into the world, the ride.

  2. Thank You for your input. I respect and appreciate your thoughts and am glad I was able to achieve my intention. I love to leave things open so that the reader is free to interpret what a piece means to them and not what it means to me.

  3. I like the way you compared the ups and downs of our life with the ride. Your post walked me back to my primary school date up to now, typing to comment it and left me many thoughts about the future. I am that kind of person with eyes open and head up. I always have a question about my destination, how will it be? I am trying to study, work and get along with everybody, all to bring me a soft and satisfied landing at the destination. I am crossing my fingers for that.

  4. Hi Chi Lai, thanks for the comment. I'm glad you liked this piece. While reading your comments it reminded me of something someone once told me that has stuck with me. "GET ALONG WITH YOURSELF, BEFORE TRYING TO GET ALONG WITH OTHERS". This has truly helped me and I hope it helps you. I wish you well...
    My best!!!

  5. This is pretty real, also kind of depressing as well to be respectful. It's hard to think that our lives all seem to be on a "track". Which is life, school, work, taxes and death. Of course there is all the ups and downs in between, but I liked what you said because it is very real and to the point. Not a lot of people can put such a diverse thing, such as life, into a great metaphors and similes. Good job I really did enjoy it.

  6. Awesome analogies! I was actually having a conversation, with my girlfriend this morning, along the lines of what you were saying. I will probably have her read it later tonight. I especially like how you relate your entertainment to your escape. To me, my escape from life and problems is riding my Harley. There is nothing like getting out on the open road with a pocketful cash and a full tank of gas.
